Bureau Veritas represented at the conference “Control and certification of dairy products – The Halloumi case” in Limassol

Bureau Veritas Hellas was kindly invited to the conference “Control and certification of dairy products – The Halloumi case”, organized by the Pancyprian Farmers Union.

The conference was held in Limassol on September the 25th 2022, under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, with the presence of the Minister, Mr Kadis.

Bureau Veritas Hellas was represented by a delegation led by the I&F General Manager Mrs. Maria Chachali.

Mrs. Chachali gave an opening speech highlighting the importance of the verification of compliance of all the involved parties in the production chain of Halloumi/Hellim. Cheese producers, milk producers, and feed producers are assessed according to the product specification in force for the Halloumi/Hellim Protected Designation of Origin. She also answered questions related to the verification process and methodology.

In September 2021 an INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION AGREEMENT was signed between Bureau Veritas Hellas M.A.E and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus, through the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment for the Delegation of specific tasks related to official controls of verification of compliance with the product specification for the Protected Designation of Origin of “Χαλλούμι” (Halloumi) / “Hellim”.
