The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has taken various existing Health and Safety standards (such as BS OHSAS 18001) and published ISO 45001:2018, which outlines the requirements for a management system to protect against and reduce the possibility of risk occurrence.

It is essential that all managerial and non-managerial personnel are fully aware of the danger in the workplace and the risks arising from these danger, both to employee safety and to the organization, as well as the procedures to control them.
