This Lead Auditor Training course is intended to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills to audit and assess Energy Management Systems established on the basis of ISO 50001:2018 Standard.

What insights does the ISO 50001:2018 EnMS Lead Auditor Training Course provide?
- A reinforcement of the understanding of the requirements of ISO 50001:2018;
- A detailed understanding of Terminology used in the ISO 50001:2018 Standard;
- In depth exposure to 3rd party auditing perspective of an Energy Management System implemented by an Organization achieved through a contiguous case study through a series of workshops, exercises role plays.
All of these learning is achieved through, pre course learning by each delegate individually and followed by class room training consisting of exercises, workshops, presentations and facilitation by qualified trainers in the subject through open discussions and role plays.
What prior expertise is required for the ISO 50001:2018 EnMS Lead Auditor Training Course?
Delegates must possess the following prior knowledge in:
- Management System
- The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) cycle;
- The core elements of a management system and the interrelationship between Context, Leadership and Commitment, Energy Policy, Planning, Operation, Performance Evaluation, Management Review and Continual Improvement; - Management System Audit
Knowledge of management system audit through successful completion of a CQI-IRCA Certificated (or acceptable alternative) Lead Auditor Training Course in another discipline; - ISO 50001
An understanding of the requirements of ISO 50001 and the commonly used energy management terms and definitions, as given in ISO 50000, which may be gained by completing CQI and IRCA Certified FD130 ISO 50001 Foundation (EnMS); - Energy Management
- Fundamentals of energy efficiency: combustion, heat transfer, and regulatory guidelines;
- Energy efficiency: methods, technologies, and data analysis;
- Energy use: performance indicators, organizational processes, and electrical systems.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTED OUTCOMES UPON FINISHING the ISO 50001:2018 EnMS Lead Auditor Training Course?
There will be two types of assessments:
- The Continuous assessment, where each participant will be assessed and awarded marks in each exercise and workshop session on various competences and skills achieved including applicable soft skills;
- The formal written examination at the end of the course.
All the delegates who successfully complete both the continuous assessment and final examination will be awarded the “Certificate of Achievement” and other participants will be awarded with “Certificate of Attendance”. Delegates who complete this CQI and IRCA Certified ISO 50001 Auditor Conversion (EnMS) Training course successfully (within the five years prior to making an application to become a certificated auditor) will satisfy the training requirements for initial certification as an IRCA EnMS Auditor. Those who complete this couse and wish to register with CQI-IRCA will have to successfully complete a 5 day lead auditor course in any other discipline.
