ISO 45003:2021 - Managing Psychosocial Risk
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT — PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK — GUIDELINES FOR MANAGING PSYCHOSOCIAL RISKS
WHAT IS ISO 45003:2021?
Psychosocial risks, arising from inadequate work design, organization, and management, as well as from an unsuitable work environment, represent one of the main challenges to be faced in the field of occupational health and safety. They have considerable repercussions on the health of individuals and businesses alike. However, these risks can be effectively prevented and mitigated by addressing them with the same logic reserved for other occupational health and safety issues. ISO 45003:2021 is helpful in this regard, as it is the ISO document that provides guidance on managing psychosocial risks and promoting well-being at work.
Bureau Veritas has created a third party verification that refers to the requirements of the ISO 45003:2021 guideline "Occupational health and safety management - Psychological health and safety at work - Guidelines for managing psychosocial risks". It incorporates the requirements of an ISO 45001 management system and integrates it with specific aspects pertaining to psychosocial well-being. The service and relative attestation is applicable to organizations of all sizes and sectors that want to analyse and manage this risk in a controlled manner.
HOW TO OBTAIN ATTESTATION ACCORDING TO THE ISO 45003:2021 GUIDELINE?
- Organizations will undergo an audit to verify conformity with both the system and operational requirements:
- At the end of the audit process, an Audit Report will be issued, with any actions to be implemented to fill the gaps highlighted during the verification.
- Upon successful completion of the above process, an attestation, valid for three years, will be issued, subject to positive outcomes of annual maintenance audits.
- Should there be any changes to the context and structure of the organization, Bureau Veritas may need to conduct an extraordinary audit to re-evaluate conformity with the standard’s requirements.
FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ISO 45003:2021 GUIDELINE
-
Should the audit according to the standard be conducted alone or should it be integrated with the ISO 45001:2018 audit?
The standard is applicable to both ISO 45001:2018 certified organizations and non-certified organizations. In the case of ISO 45001 certified organizations with Bureau Veritas, a reduction in the audit days to be carried out is provided, conducting combined audits.
-
What is the validity of the attestation according to the ISO 45003:2021 guideline?
The certificate lasts for 3 years, subject to annual surveillance audits that demonstrate the maintenance of the system, after which the organization can decide whether to request the service again or not. If the conditions declared in the offer phase change (type of workplaces, number of operational and non-operational personnel, distribution of personnel in different workplaces, ...), Bureau Veritas may need to conduct an extraordinary audit to re-evaluate conformity with the standard’s requirements.
-
Will the attestation according to the ISO 45003:2021 guideline be a standalone document or can an "ad hoc" statement be included in the ISO 45001:2018 certificate?
The attestation according to the ISO 45003:2021 guideline will be a standalone document and will have no connection with the ISO 45001:2018 certificate.
