ISCC Plus Certification

INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY & CARBON CERTIFICATION

The European Union's Agenda 30 for Sustainable Development sets objectives for climate neutrality, energy transition towards clean sources, and the empowerment of production sectors and consumers on environmental and social sustainability issues. It also emphasizes the use of production and consumption models based on the principle of the circular economy.

What is the ISCC Plus certification scheme?

Industrial sectors such as textiles, chemicals, food, and feed are particularly sensitive to the issue of production sustainability, which is a requirement in the traditional market for raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products. The ISCC PLUS certification scheme allows for the demonstration, through a management system, of the traceability and sustainability of raw materials, intermediate products, and final products in the following supply chains: production of food products, feed production, technical/chemical products, bio-based products, biomass production for energy applications.
The standard's core requirements are sustainability and traceability, with particular attention to the sustainable management of cultivation, verification of the chain of custody and traceability, and monitoring of production volumes and processing yields. Under ISCC PLUS, various categories of raw materials can be covered:

  • Bio: Corn, Cotton, Sugarcane, etc.
  • Bio-Circular: Used Cooking Oil, Forest residues, Straw, Tall oil, etc.
  • Circular: Mixed plastic waste, textile waste, etc.
  • Renewable: Power to gas, power to liquid.

How to obtain the certification according to the ISCC Plus standard?

The ISCC PLUS certification is valid for 12 months, and re-certification is required annually. Each year, a new certificate will be issued, indicating the organization's purpose and the materials managed.
