The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and skills required to perform first, second and third party audits of Food Safety management systems against ISO 22000:2018, in accordance with ISO 19011 and ISO 17021, as applicable. All references in this document to ISO standards are to the current versions unless stated otherwise.
Delegates who complete this CQI and IRCA Certified ISO 22000 Lead Auditor (FSMS) Training course successfully (within the three years prior to making an application to become a certificated auditor) will satisfy the training requirements for initial certification as a CQI-IRCA Certificated FSMS auditor.

The practical exercises have been carefully designed to focus upon issues that commonly arise during FSMS audits.

What prior expertise is required for the FSMS ISO 22000:2018 Lead Auditor Training Course ?
Those candidates who are qualified auditors in other disciplines (QMS, EMS etc) and have experience of Food Safety Management may find this training course more appropriate.
It is desirable to possess the following prior knowledge:
- Completion of secondary education;
- An understanding of report writing;
- Experience in the food chain and the principles used there (HACCP, GMP, GAP legislation…);
- An understanding of relevant key Food Safety legislation & pre-requisite programmes;
- A prior knowledge of the requirements of ISO 22000 is required, as a minimum the standard must be read before the course.
What are the expected outcome upon finishing the course?
There will be two types of assessments, continuous assessment, and examination. Methods and duration of Examination:
• Classroom Exam – 2 hours;
• Virtual Exam – 2 hours;
• E-Assessment (CQI online examination) – 1 hour & 45 minutes.
The method of examination will depend on course delivery mode with the priority of E-Assessment. Electronic devices, including laptops and mobile phones, are not permitted into the examination room. Delegates will also be assessed on the basis of their progress throughout the exercises.
Delegates who successfully complete both the examination and the continuous assessment will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement and will satisfy the formal training requirements for CQI and IRCA FSMS Auditor Certification scheme. Delegates who do not successfully complete both the examination and the continuous assessment will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance for attending the course as per the duration of the course. They possess the right to resit examination once within 12 months since the last day of training course.
