RELIABILITY (RAM & RCM)

RELIABILITY (RAM & RCM)

Improve reliability and availability - and better target maintenance activities

Do you have issues with the number of equipment failures you are suffering and how they affect your operations? If you don’t have confidence in your system consistently meeting operational requirements, reliability services from an independent organisation like Bureau Veritas can give you the insight and confidence you need.

Gaining a better understanding of why failures happen and the impact they have on performance can not only improve reliability and availability, but it enables organisations to better target their maintenance activities and, as a result, cut costs.

RELIABILITY CENTRED MAINTENANCE (RCM)

Regular maintenance is vital to help ensure the productivity, longevity and reliability of equipment

INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE & MAINTENANCE STRATEGY OF EQUIPMENT

Regular maintenance is vital to help ensure the productivity, longevity and reliability of equipment. But without the correct strategy, you could be left paying more than you need on planned maintenance activities. That’s why we work with clients to optimise their maintenance strategy.

HOW BUREAU VERITAS WORKS WITH RCM MAINTENANCE

Working closely with our clients in a partnership approach, Bureau Veritas can help deliver cost savings, enable more informed decisions and improve spares handling through Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).

Our experienced team of engineers apply a failure mode and effects analysis approach (FMEA) to identify possible failure modes and establish key areas for improvement through a complex risk matrix approach. In most cases, it is possible to claim back the cost of an RCM study in maintenance cost savings over a relatively short period of time.

RCM MAINTENANCE - HOW DOES IT WORK?

This process starts by asking the following questions:

  • How does the system in question work?
  • How can the system fail?
  • How critical are the failures in terms of their impact and frequency?

The system is then split into functional groups and a failure mode and effects analysis approach (FMEA) is used to identify possible failure modes.

The criticality of the different failure modes is considered using a risk matrix approach that accounts for both the system impact and frequency of the failure. This highlights key areas for improvement.

These elements are then used to:

  • Review the current maintenance activities
  • Suggest improvement options
  • Highlight monitoring solutions
  • Determine a strategy to manage key spares

Bureau Veritas will also facilitate a workshop approach at all stages using our site maintenance and operational experience to ensure maximum value and effectiveness. All stages are recorded in an RCM template, which ensures that all relevant information is captured to maximise the benefit of the process and the results obtained.

BENEFITS

  • Significant cost savings on planned maintenance
  • Typical savings will pay back the cost of RCM study in a relatively short period of time
  • Enables informed decisions on maintenance
  • Business case development for improvement options
  • Improved spares handling
  • Enhanced understanding of machines and impacts of failures between operations and engineering teams
